The Corpus Christi is certainly the most traditional holiday celebrated for seven days and which takes the name of the Septenario. From the point of view of the catholics, Corpus Christi, is the religious feast in honor of the Blessed Sacrament. This merges into a cultural symbiosis, the Catholic religion and popular tradition. So in Cuenca every day the festival is sponsored by a host depicting a fully identified group who pays the expenses holding.
The faith of the people of Cuenca concentrates this devotion in Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. The Parque Calderón, and Luis Cordero and Benigno Malo streets become a paradise of colors and flavor for seven days in mid-June, around these places the most delicious and traditional sweets will be sold in Cuenca and you can see firework light up with the famous “castillos”.
