The Corpus Christi is certainly the most traditional holiday celebrated for seven days and which takes the name of the Septenario. From the point of view of the catholics, Corpus Christi, is the religious feast in honor of the Blessed Sacrament. This merges into a cultural symbiosis, the Catholic religion and popular tradition. So in Cuenca every day the festival is sponsored by a host depicting a fully identified group who pays the expenses holding.
The faith of the people of Cuenca concentrates this devotion in Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. The Parque Calderón, and Luis Cordero and Benigno Malo streets become a paradise of colors and flavor for seven days in mid-June, around these places the most delicious and traditional sweets will be sold in Cuenca and you can see firework light up with the famous “castillos”.
This is one of the most beautiful festivals of Cuenca, where one can share with the family of this lovely "cuencana" tradition.

Cuenca for Expats is a program created by Cuenca´s Chamber of Commerce for foreigners living in Cuenca to make their transition and life in our city easier and to help them feel at home.

“We have been involved with the Chamber of Commerce movement in Canada for over 20 years. On arriving in Cuenca in late 2010, the first thing we did was look for a Chamber of Commerce. We knew they would be able to connect us with honest, reliable merchants, trades-people and medical contacts. We were welcomed with open arms, so typical of the people of Cuenca. We received all the info we needed to begin our lives here in Cuenca. Since then we have received a wealth of information about our city, gone on tours to historical sites, manufacturing plants and botanical gardens. In addition, we have met many new friends from all over the world through our association with the Chamber. We are proud to be associated with the Chamber and proud that we are Member #001 of the Cuenca for Expats program of the Cuenca Chamber of Commerce.”

"We have been members of the Cuenca Chamber of Commerce for two years and feel that our membership has paid off for us by taking the tours offered by the Chamber, attending seminars, and meeting newcomers at the monthly expat meetings. It's a good starting point to learn about the community."

“When considering a move to a strange and different place, one must consult with and rely on people and organizations that can serve as members of your team that truly have your interests at heart. My wife and I found such a team member in the “Cuenca for Expats” program sponsored by the Cámara de Comercio de Cuenca.Through this organization and their wonderful program, we have extended our network of experienced and very helpful people, Ecuatorianos and other expats alike; discovered and visited nearby places to learn more about the culture of Ecuador; received advice and presentations on such matters as the visa application process, real estate purchases and rentals, medical insurance and health care options and more. We consider our membership to have been priceless with benefits far outweighing the cost. It smoothed our transition to life and living in Ecuador!”
